Program Accreditation
“Trinity Western University has been seeking accreditation in all provinces for future graduates of its proposed law school but has faced opposition from law societies in Ontario, B.C. and Nova Scotia over its controversial conduct code.” There is a statement in the student community covenant, which all students must sign. Students must pledge to be sexually intimate only with a member of the opposite sex to whom they are married. This created a heated debate about discrimination and religious rights. The B.C. Law Society voted not to recognize the university's law school graduates and the provincial government revoked its support for the proposed law school. Trinity Western appealed the decision and last year the judges stated while LGBT students would be unlikely to attend TWU's law school, the overall impact on their access to education in the legal field would be minimal.
