Strategies For Improving Memory
Learning is a process that modifies a subsequent behaviour. Memory is the ability to remember past experience. For my self I have a hard time when it comes remembering things. I need to use as many strategies as I can to help with this problem. Some techniques from the link that I like to use are, choosing what to remember and what to forget, and memory strengthening through external strategies. I need to be selective with what I need to remember, separating what is important and what is not. I try to use the same technique when teaching, not to overwhelm the students with too much unimportant information that is not required to be remembered. I am also a big time external strategist when it comes to memory retention. I have calendars galore, lists, and specific places for almost everything. Even the simplest things I will write down. When it is written down it is just one less thing I have to make an effort to remember. I also implement list and schedules into my classroom. At the beginning of every week the students all get a list of what assignments are due and when, and what tests are happening on what day. This frees up some memory room for them, not having to focus on remembering specific dues dates.
