Creating a positive learning environment makes everyone a lot more comfortable. A comfortable environment makes for a more effective and efficient learning experience. Keeping a student teacher relationship professional is important, but it doesn’t mean it has to be dull and boring.
Finding a way to bond with each student, through past experience, similar interests and hobbies, strength and weaknesses, and humor, creates a level of trust and comradery. Taking input from the class makes the learning experience more fun. They won’t feel so limited to certain projects, or constricted to a certain classroom structure. There can be a variety of options, which will give them a sense of control.
